Find the Source of a Data Layer
Find out where the data for the layer that you are using comes from
Some of our layers require a subscription. Access to ALL 3,000+ layers requires an Enterprise subscription specifically. Click here to compare our plans and upgrade your plan.
Knowing the data source of the layers will go a long way in appreciating the credibility of the data, understanding the utility of the information and being able to use it in the right context.
This is also the best way to find more information about what the data and columns represent.
Steps:
- Click Layers to open the Layers tab (on the left hand side of the screen).
- Click on the layer card or click the info button specifically. (See the example in the gif below, using the “Railroads” layer.)
- This will open the Info page. You'll see three tabs: Data, Appearance, and Details. Click Details.
- Here is where you will be able to see the data source and the source url, as well as any additional details or notes that are available.
