Search For a Data Layer

Find exactly what you’re looking for with layer search

With thousands of layers available, you need to quickly find what you’re looking for. That’s where our search tool comes in. To get started, simply open the “Layers” tab on the left hand menu. You will see a search box at the top of the menu, which you can use to find information within the data library.

There are a few helpful hints to remember when using the search function in the layer library.

  • If you’re searching for something specific, pay attention to your search. For example, if you’re looking for data about "irrigation wells” and can’t find what you need,  trying searching for “water wells”. The same is true of state abbreviations, such as “CA” and “California.”
  • Pay attention to your location. Your library searches will reflect the data available in the area that your screen is focused on. If you’re looking for data on California water rights, but your screen is centered on Florida, you may not receive the results you’re looking for.
  • If you want to search for all data layers, irrespective of the location of your screen, simply click on the “Show” button and select “All.” See image below for more details.
  • Use the “Categories” filter. Below the search box, you will see an option to filter results based on the category of data you need. This will increase the accuracy of your search.
